New Year's Resolution Suggestions to Improve your Financial Wellness

It's not too late to choose a New Year's Resolution to start your 2019 off right! Here are five simple ways you can boost your financial wellness this year.

2019 Financial Resolutions

  1. Start a Budget. An important step toward financial wellness is keeping track of your income and expenses. You can use an online budgeting tool or just old fashioned pen-and-paper. Once you start monitoring how you spend your money, it becomes a little bit easier to save.

  2. Identify Financial Goals. Financial Wellness can mean so many different things. Do you want to start saving for your first house, pay off your loans, or even go back to school?  Figure out what’s important to you and write it down - then start taking steps toward those goals.

  3. Improve your Credit Score. Credit scores can seem confusing or intimidating, but they don’t have to be! Using a credit card and paying off the balance every month is a great way to start boosting your score. Another way to boost your credit score is to request an increase to your available credit limit.

  4. Read a Personal Finance Book. Your personal finance is worth investing some time into. If time is tight, you could even listen to an audiobook or podcast on your commute.

  5. Save for Retirement. No matter your age, it’s always a good time to start saving for retirement. If you’re already saving, consider increasing the amount you set aside every month.
