Youth and Teen Accounts

Youth Accounts

Towpath Credit Union is proud to offer two great options for those in our communities under the age of eighteen to join the credit union and begin the responsible use of credit union accounts.

Early Savers Membership Savings (Ohio Transfers to Minors Act Account)

The Early Savers Membership Savings follows the Ohio Transfers to Minors Act framework and is offered for all minors under the age of eighteen. With these accounts, a person over the age of eighteen acts as custodian for the funds in the account, while they are owned by the minor. The custodian is responsible for making sure the funds in the account are used for the benefit of the minor.  At an age designated by the custodian, between 18 and 25, the custodian is responsible for delivering the funds to the beneficiary at that time.

Teen Membership

The Teen Membership is a joint account-ownership that allows teens fifteen years or older to establish their first credit union accounts with an adult as a joint-signer. This Membership comes standard with a savings account, but a checking account, debit card, and other products and features may be added at the direction of the adult.
