Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Towpath CU

Towpath Credit Union is committed to holding diversity, equity, and inclusion at the forefront of our culture, business plans, services, products, and employment. Our ongoing goal is to cultivate and embrace a diverse culture and ensure that every member of our team feels included and welcome in our environment. We are proud of the progress we have made over the years, but we understand that this is just the beginning of our journey to ensure that our team and Members always feel like home at Towpath CU. As such, we think it’s important to outline our plan for continued growth toward our goal of becoming a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and financial institution.

Educate our Leaders

Change within any company starts at the top and continues its momentum throughout every level of the organization. That’s why the executive team of Towpath Credit Union are committed to learning and growing so they can truly be a force driving change.

Listen to our Community

We don’t know what we don’t know – but our employees and Members have a wealth of information and ideas for how we can continually improve. Whether it’s a new service that would benefit our Members or a different perspective on how we communicate, we will make sure to have open lines of communication at every level.

Celebrate our Differences

Our employees are a diverse group of people who celebrate different cultures, traditions, and lifestyles. We want to empower them to tell their stories, share their perspectives, and start important conversations within our community.

DEI Advisory Committee

To help us achieve our goals, we have also implemented a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Committee to help give our leadership team more insight into the diverse perspectives of our staff. We hope that by giving more people a seat at the table, they can help impact our workplace and the services we provide to our Members. Our committee looks forward to expanding on education, advising leadership, and creating awareness within our Towpath Team.

Additionally, we are an equal opportunity employer and we will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other occupationally irrelevant criteria.

We believe that with the advisement of our committee and a commitment to listen, blended with strategy and programs, we can create a voice within our organization that will hopefully expand into our community.

To everyone in the Towpath community – we are listening, we are aware, and we know that together, we will shape the future of a more inclusive world.
